U.K. To Ban Google Glass On The Roads

Google Glass is set to launch sometime in 2014, but already they have faced some turbulent times:  first banned from bars, then they’re very own banned sign.  Now, they’re banned from the roads.

According to a report from U.K.-based Stuff, the government wants to make sure drivers aren’t using Google Glass on the road while they drive.

“We are aware of the impending rollout of Google Glass and are in discussion with the Police to ensure that individuals do not use this technology while driving. It is important that drivers give their full attention to the road when they are behind the wheel and do not behave in a way that stops them from observing what is happening on the road.” –

Google has yet to announce plans to bring Glass to Europe, and this could dampen Google’s efforts to move them across the pond.

AAA has released its own report, suggesting wearing Glass could be bad while driving, and West Virginia has already proposed such a ban in its state.  It seems a matter of time before other states follow suit, and what could have been a brilliant, augmented paradigm shift in how we literally see our roads seems destined to go the way of the driver side cell phone before it.

  1. Its such as you read my thoughts! You appear to understand so much about this, like you wrote the guide in it or something. I think that you just can do with a few p.c. to drive the message home a little bit, but other than that, that is excellent blog. A great read. I’ll certainly be back.
