The television show, that is now just over twice my age, will be having an epic 3D production by the BBC.

This is surprisingly not the first time that the Doctor has been seen in 3D. In 1993, on the 30th anniversary, there was a special production of Dimensions in Time,  broadcasted as a part of Children in Need. The two-part adventure was filmed on EastEnders’ Albert Square set, and featured Doctor Who stars as well as cast members from the BBC soap opera.

The 50th anniversary will be bringing a “whole new dimension of adventure for the Doctor to explore” according to Steven Moffat.

Here’s hoping it will be spectacular. I must say, the 3D thing seems a little cheesy – suddenly the television is bigger on the inside!
