At first glance, we thought the Yuki-taro was more Roomba that robot.  Once you get into it, it’s pretty clear that this thing is much more than that.  Yuki-taro is an 800 pounds, GPS-guided snow-eating machine that, instead of throwing the snow on your lawn, packs it all into two-foot ice cubes.

Yuki-taro is the brainchild of a Japanese research project, and it’s creators are working to reduce its size and weight, looking to get it on the commercial market within five years.

The sticking point may be the price.  While a top-line Roomba can be had for $500, the team is looking at a starting price tag of $8,300.
