This year’s Google I/O conference didn’t give us a new version of Android, but at Apple’s WWDC 2013, we saw that perhaps there are too many current versions already around.

As Apple’s conference moved on we launched into a gorgeous iOS7 world and showed charts that prove Apple’s user base will upgrade. Google’s Android, on the other hand, is split. Split between the new version and two other versions, and one of those is almost 2 years old.
This is OS fragmentation at its worst. Its hurting Android, and when Apple (or any one) can unveil a brave new design and have the mountain-lion’s share follow within weeks, a new OS can really take the edge of the market share.
