Earlier in the week, Nintendo announced the first wave of Amiibo figures.

First announced at this year’s E3, Amiibo figures will be an NFC optional enhancement platform for the Nintendo Wii U and the Nintendo 3DS systems. The Amiibo figures will be able to store information such as custom move sets and stats for Super Smash Bros, and send it to any of the compatible platforms.

The characters represented in the first wave are Mario, Peach, Link, Samus, Yoshi, Donkey Kong, Pikachu, Kirby, Fox, Marth, Villager and Wii Fit Trainer.

They are expected to be released by Q4 of 2014.
