White Nose Syndrome is responsible for millions of bat deaths.  WNS, where a white mold converse the mouth and nose of bats leading to starvation and death is caused by a fugus.  It has killed over 6 million bats in North American since the winter of 2006, and has been so prevalent it has wiped out entire colonies.  In May, Bats that were treated with a chemical compound to stop the growth of the fungus were released into the wild, become the first known survivors of WNS.
