Barnum’s Animals Crackers Redesigns Iconic Packaging for PETA

The animals have been “freed.”

Iconic childhood snack Barnum’s Animals has redesigned its famous cardboard box packaging after long discussions with PETA. The previous animal cracker box depicted polar bears, lions, gorillas and elephants held captive in red circus boxes. The new design has “freed” the animals, who are now shown roaming in nature. In line with this ethical treatment of animals approach, the polar bear has been replaced with a giraffe and zebra to show species in their natural safari habitat.

“The new box for Barnum’s animals perfectly reflects that our society no longer tolerates caging and chaining exotic animals for circus shows,” PETA announced. “Big victories can come in small packages, and no matter where we look, we find new evidence that people are embracing compassion for animals like never before.”
